produce. WHAT IS COMMUNITY SHARED AGRICULTURE? By becoming a CSA Member, you 'share' in the bounty of our farm! CSA Members receive a basket of in-season fresh organic vegetables, herbs and occasional fruit and cut flowers every week from approximately mid-June to the end of October. Members pick up their share at the farm once a week. On-farm pickups allow Members to speak with the farmers and see our farming practices firsthand. Our current food system gives us all cause for concern. Our food is trucked in from thousands of miles away. We do not know the farmer who grew the food or the practices they may have used. Our local farm families are losing their livelihoods. CSA seeks to address all of these concerns. Members help farmers earn a decent, reliable income while supporting local, organic food and sustainable farming. 'SHARE THE JOYS AND RISKS In the CSA arrangement, Members 'share' in the risks of farming. For example, if a particular crop is affected by weather or pests, Member baskets may be affected as well. However, if the year is good and there is a bumper crop, Members reap the windfall! This allows farmers to focus on doing what they do best: growing delicious organic food. WHAT WILL I GET?A typical produce basket contains 9-12 items that vary by the week and by the season. Staple crops include greens such as lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, herbs and green onions, plus carrots, tomatoes, peppers, squash, beets, oinions, parsnips, potatoes and corn. ECOLOGICAL FARMING We are a biodynamic farm in transition to certified organic status. We are committed to caring for the earth and maintaining the integrity of our land for future generations. We do not use any chemicals, artificial fertilizers or GMO’s. We use human labor whenever possible to reduce dependence on fossil fuel. We plant heirloom varieties of vegetables to preserve plant genetic diversity.
